I actually didn’t know this until recently, but if you drop the game for 90 days, the game will start to run upgrades on your base by itself! Meaning that after this time goes by you can come back and your whole base could have gone through a makeover. This means that if you get bored of logging back in every few hours or, for whatever reason, you decide to delete the game for some time. When you come back, the game will be waiting for you with a more powerful base.
Offense
A good way of getting resources is attacking enemy bases. Specially if the Daily Star bonus is in effect. By finishing invasions you get up of 3 stars and once you reach 7 you get a big boost of gold and elixir. You can do this in the builder base as well! It’s recommended you do these each day, and you will reach your cap very quickly.
